Cleaning the Digital Crown of Your Apple Watch

This method is useful especially if you notice that your Apple Watch’s Digital Crown is resistive or is sticky when you try to spin it.

STEP 1: Turn off your Apple Watch.

STEP 2: Turn on your faucet and adjust its temperature to a warm setting.

STEP 3: Now hold your Apple Watch with its Digital Crown directly under the faucet and let the water stream down on it for approximately 10 to 15 seconds.

NOTE: If your Apple Watch has a leather band, remove it first before placing your Apple Watch under the water stream. You don’t need to do it for nylon, metal, and fluoroelastomer bands.

STEP 4: While under the water stream, turn and press the Digital Crown so that water will run between the space of the Digital Crown and the watch’s housing.

NOTE: Doing this will help you dislodge any debris that may have accumulated within the Digital Crown.

STEP 5: When you’re satisfied, use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe your Apple Watch.

Cleaning Your Apple Watch Bands

Similar with the Apple Watch itself, your Apple Watch’s bands can get grimy as well over a period of time, especially if they’re porous. According to Apple, here is they’re recommendation when it comes to cleaning the Apple Watch bands:

“For the leather portions of the bands, wipe them clean with a nonabrasive, lint-free cloth, lightly dampened with fresh water (if necessary). After cleaning, let the band air dry thoroughly before re-attaching to Apple Watch. Don’t store leather bands in direct sunlight, at high temperatures, or in high humidity. Don’t soak leather bands in water. Leather bands are not water resistant. For all other bands and clasps, wipe them clean with a nonabrasive, lint-free cloth, lightly dampened with fresh water (if necessary). Dry the band thoroughly with a nonabrasive, lint-free cloth before re-attaching to Apple Watch. Stainless steel bands are not water resistant.”
